1. BANG LAMPHU MUSEUM
A hidden gem near Khao San Road, the Bang Lamphu Museum highlights the history and life of Bangkok’s old town. The museum is located adjacent to Santichaiprakarn Park and Phra Sumen Fort in an old building which was once the printing house of the Royal Thai Mint.
The museum is built in distinct parts. For example, one building is dedicated to the history of the Royal Thai Mint with exhibits about the history of Thai currency and coinage. Another building, built inside a historic wooden house, showcases the history of the Bang Lamphu neighborhood, and the shops and restaurants that were once famous here. A small, traditional Thai market, Bang Lamphu Market is full of delicious street food and souvenir stalls. There are a few shops selling clothing items and housewares, but this market is geared towards local Thais. However, you will want to make a stop as it’s a nice market that highlights a slice of local life.
